Application of Jinxin Electronics DSP in the Control of Solar Mirrors
With the increasing prominence of energy crisis and environmental problems in recent years, vigorously developing new energy has become an important research direction at present. Compared with other energy sources, solar energy has many characteristics such as abundant reserves and green environmental protection. In 2022, the installed capacity of solar power generation in China was 392.61 million kilowatts, an increase of 86.05 million kilowatts over the previous year, a year-on-year increase of 28.1%. Solar energy resources are almost unlimited, and photovoltaic power generation does not produce any environmental pollution, making it an ideal energy source to meet the needs of future society.

Common solar power generation devices include photovoltaic power generation units using photovoltaic panels, dish solar thermal power generation units using dish reflectors, and tower solar thermal power generation systems using heliostats. As the most expensive and critical component of the tower solar power generation system, the heliostat is generally composed of a mirror, a frame, a base, a tracking drive system and a heliostat control unit. The heliostat tracks the sun through the rotation of the mirror, so that the sunlight can be emitted in a certain direction after reflection, so that a large amount of solar energy can be accumulated, and the shortcomings of low solar radiation energy flow density can be changed.
Since the heliostat group is a long-distance reflection tracking, any slight deviation of the heliostat will affect the efficiency of the heliostat, and in severe cases, it will cause the solar energy harvesting work to be unable to be carried out, and the local temperature of the heat gathering mechanism will lead to the thermal expansion difference and then lead to the aging of the heat gathering mechanism, so the heliostat needs to have a powerful, sound and stable drive solution.
The Core-Electronics ADP32F035 DSP is a highly efficient C/C++ engine that can be used in heliostat motor control to acquire external signals and implement complex motor control algorithms.
The chip operates at 60MHz, has 32x32-bit MAC capability and 64-bit processing capability, and has a fast interrupt response with automatic environment saving of key registers, allowing it to handle many asynchronous events with minimal latency. The device also has a Level 8 deep-protected pipeline with pipelined memory access, which allows the device to execute instructions at high speeds without the need for expensive high-speed memory, especially with advanced hardware that greatly reduces latency caused by discontinuities.

Although there are better thermal insulation and reflection measures to reduce the damage of the climate to the inside of the heliostat, it is still necessary to ensure that it can work for a long time in this environment. The DSP of the ADP32F035 of Jinxin Electronics has a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, and its performance is excellent, which is the embodiment of high performance in the chip.
